JIVA Gosala

JIVA Gosala was started in 2005 to protect the remaining species of indigenous cow, and is now housing over 400 cows across 9 breeds.

India was previously home to 72 species of indigenous cows. Over the last few decades, as a result of globalisation and capitalist driven race for profits, more than 65% of the species have been lost. Of the remaining 26 species, only few remain in self propagating populations while others are at risk of extinction.

Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji started JIVA Gosala in 2005 to preserve the native species and protect them from becoming extinct. The Gosala now houses over 400 cows across 9 breeds.
